Windsor Hills vs Storey Lake vs ChampionsGate: Resort Guide

Windsor Hills Resort pool, water slides and splash area

Choosing between Windsor Hills, Storey Lake and ChampionsGate for your Orlando family vacation? All three have vacation rentals and shared resort amenities, but the right choice depends on your park plans, group size and how you want to spend your days away from the parks.

With VR360homes, you book direct with the owners, with no VR360homes booking fees. Browse the homes, contact the listed owner or manager and ask questions before booking. Owners set their own rental rates and terms, so request a full quote including taxes, cleaning and any extras.

Use this comparison to build a shortlist, then choose the individual home that fits your family. Facilities and access rules can change; the resort information linked below was checked on October 31, 2026.

Quick comparison: where should your family start?

Community A useful starting point for What to check
Windsor Hills A Disney-focused trip with a choice of condos, townhomes and private-pool houses. Home type, pool size and walking route to the clubhouse.
Storey Lake Families wanting vacation-home space with clubhouse activities between park days. Which club is near your home and the access included with your booking.
ChampionsGate Larger families or groups looking for more bedrooms and resort days. Bedroom layout, parking, location within the community and club access.

These are suggestions for narrowing your search, not a ranking. A well-chosen home in any of the three may suit your trip better than a different home in your first-choice resort.

Windsor Hills: consider it for a Disney-focused vacation

Windsor Hills is in Kissimmee, on North Old Lake Wilson Road. Our listings include condos, townhomes and detached homes, so it is worth comparing if your family wants a choice of layouts rather than a very large house.

The resort has a heated lagoon pool, water slides, a splash area, hot tub, fitness center, playgrounds and sports facilities. Guests obtain amenity wristbands at the clubhouse. See the Windsor Hills amenities and guest FAQs for current details.

Choose the home carefully: a condo with shared-pool access is different from a townhome with a splash pool or a house with a private pool. If you want to walk to the clubhouse, ask the owner about the actual route and distance.

Storey Lake: consider it for clubhouse time as well as park days

Storey Lake Resort vacation community in Kissimmee

Storey Lake is another Kissimmee option. The homes listed on VR360homes include condos, townhomes and larger houses. Compare their locations within the community as closely as their bedroom counts.

Storey Lake has two clubs: the Hideaway Club and Bronson Club. Hideaway lists slides, a splash pad, fitness facilities, sports courts and activities such as miniature golf and kayak rental. Bronson has a lazy river, pirate-themed water play, an arcade and fitness facilities.

Choose the home carefully: ask which facilities your booking includes, which club is closest and whether activities or rentals cost extra. The clubs require proof of your stay. Check the current instructions supplied by your host rather than assuming a booking confirmation alone covers every activity.

ChampionsGate: consider it for larger groups and resort days

Oasis Club pool and lazy river at ChampionsGate

Our Retreat at ChampionsGate listings include larger homes, including eight-bedroom options. That makes it a useful place to start if several generations or two families are sharing, but check beds and bathrooms rather than relying on the maximum guest count.

The Oasis Club has a lazy river, waterslide, splash zone, quiet pool, restaurant, fitness center, movie theater and arcade. It serves registered residents and guests of staying at the Champions Gate communities.

Choose the home carefully: “ChampionsGate” describes a wider area, so confirm the rental's exact community and included clubs. Do not assume that a nearby hotel, golf facility or every club is included. Ask about the distance from your front door to the facilities you plan to use.

The Oasis Club's entry rules specify booking or parking documentation showing stay dates and the home's address; gate-access QR codes are not accepted as proof of club access. Check the latest instructions before arrival.

Which is best for Disney World or Universal?

Start with your itinerary. Plot the route from a shortlisted home to each park's guest parking area, rather than comparing distances to “Disney” or “Universal” as a whole. Magic Kingdom, EPCOT and the other Disney parks have different arrival routes. Check Epic Universe separately from Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure.

Traffic, departure time and the home's location can change the journey. Allow for parking, security and onward transport after the drive. None of the three communities should be treated as walking accommodation for the theme parks.

If Universal is a major part of your trip, our vacation homes near Universal guide can help you plan a wider shortlist.

Restaurants, groceries and getting around

Check the nearest grocery store and dinner options from the specific property. For ideas, see our Kissimmee restaurant guide and ChampionsGate dining guide. Clubhouse dining can be convenient on a pool day, but check menus and opening hours for your visit.

A rental car is often convenient for groceries and park trips. If you prefer ride-hailing, estimate the cost of your planned journeys before choosing a home. Do not assume that a rental includes a theme park shuttle.

Compare the full cost in US dollars

No community is always the cheapest. Dates, home size, condition and included facilities all affect the price. Ask for a written USD quote for your whole stay, including:

  • Rent, taxes and cleaning.
  • Any resort, management or access charges.
  • Optional pool or spa heating and grill rental.
  • Security deposit or damage protection.
  • Payment schedule and cancellation terms.

There are no VR360homes booking fees when you book direct with owners. This does not remove the property's own rental charges or optional extras. If a quote is in another currency, confirm how your payment will be converted.

Our practical recommendation

  • Start with Windsor Hills if you want to compare smaller home types as well as houses for a Disney-focused trip.
  • Add Storey Lake if clubhouse activities are an important part of your vacation plans.
  • Add ChampionsGate if you need more bedrooms and expect to spend full days enjoying the home and resort.

Then compare one suitable home from each community for the same dates. Look at bed types, bathroom privacy, dining seats, pool features, parking and the full quote. If accessibility matters, verify measurements and equipment for that home; our accessibility checklist explains what to ask.
