Being Safe while on holiday in your Florida Vacation Villa

Florida Villa Safe

Keeping personal items safe while vacationing in Florida

Make sure that as soon as you arrive at your chosen holiday home while in Florida be it a condo, townhome or villa that you familiarise yourself with the layout of the home, and locate the safe, if provided. The number of homes that provide a safe has increased significantly over recent years, and is becoming one of the most asked for items with guests.

Firstly, have a dry run of working the safe, locking and opening it without putting your prized possessions inside, instructions should be either with the safe or in the villa folder. They normally work by allowing you to select your own code, so don’t use a code you may forget!

When leaving a property unattended, shut all blinds, which also helps to keep the home cool. Put away all valuables, eg laptops, ipods, spare money etc . If your home does not have a safe, we recommend hiding these items around the house, maybe in unused bedrooms if you have one.

Never leave items on show, or around the pool area while out for the day, this seems obvious but the amount of homes we see with everything on display is surprising.

If you are staying in a property with an alarm system, always activate the alarm when leaving. You will need to make sure that all doors and windows are shut (including the front door) for the alarm to activate successfully. Even if you are only popping to the shops it is better to be safe than sorry. Do not give opportunists the chance to ruin your holiday.

Florida as a whole is a pretty safe place but it's better to be safe than sorry, if alarms and safes are available in your Orlando villa you should always use them.

Remember owners are not responsible for loss of your personal belongings while staying in their property so please be vigilant.
